After the discussion on the form of Yoga by Maharshi Patanjali, there is a natural inquisitiveness among the disciples regarding the behavioural changes that come about in a man after restraining
the deflections of mind and in the absence of any worldly distractions. In what disposition does a
yogic person get distinguished?
Through the medium of this Sutra Maharshi Patanjali says, “Then the seer (self) gets established in his self-pristine form.”
Here two words need to be understood.
First is seer and the second is natural form.
Seer means the one who can foresee. The soul or a man is called the seer because deep meanings of spiritualism are hidden in the noun ‘seer’. Seer word is widely used in Vedas, Upnishads, Darshanas and all the Vedic literature. Seer only sees the worldly delusions (prapachas), but does not get affected by them. Man can also revert to his original form by keeping himself detached from nature and considering himself completely alienated from it. According to law a man can perceive his purest form only by feeling himself different from everyone else. This is the first and the most important step to know ourselves. As soon as we become the Seer, the scene gets separated from us. Now by using our intellect we can practice of being located in our actual form.
The second word is actual form.
There are three types of powers in this world –
Each one of them has their own form without the knowledge of which life cannot be meaningful.
About the form of the soul Samkhya says that this purush in unattached.
In other words the soul is formless.
The soul remains uncomplicated because it remains unaffected from whatever it sees.
A man should be understood the way lotus leaf is seen incompatible with water or mud around it.
According to the narrative no. 10 of the first section of Sankhya Darshan the soul is said to be continually pure, continually spiritual and free spirited.
In this narrative, Maharshi has expressed this very continually pure, spiritual and
free spirited in the form of words.
By being a yogi, the man then gets his own form.
